Sometimes a combination of therapies is the most effective. I started playing the piano at 5 and had pain at age 11, which culminated in chronic tendinitis which lasted from 14-19. At times I had to stop playing altogether. I endured a maddening array of tests, going to various hospitals. I did paraffin, nerve damage tests, uncomfortable stretches, and biofeedback. None of this helped in the slightest. Then at the age of 19 I discovered the Feldenkrais method. For 7 years and counting, the pain has not returned. After my first lesson I felt lighter, taller, straighter. Another recent revelation is the Taubman method, which is totally adding to this good physical feeling. I am finding that these two methods complement each other in an ideal way because they both put you in touch with the body.
