Subject: Ouch - and what to do to prevent that X-Mailer: Status: RO In response to your mail dd september 29, I would like to inform you that Slagwerkkrant, the Dutch drummer's magazine, published a series of articles that I wrote on the subject of drummer's physical complaints - and how to prevent them. The first two articles deal with muscles, posture, RSI, Carpal Tunnel and related subjects. For these articles nine (para)medical professionals, all specialised on musicians, have been interviewed, along with a number of professional drummers. The third article is dedicated to the ears, mostly based on an interview witt Olav van Hees, who obtained his doctorate with a thesis on musician's hearing problems. In the fourth article specific problems as experienced by latin percussionists are the main subject. The fifth article sheds some light on cultural, psychological and other `less physical' aspect of the aches and pains of drumming, based on an interview with drummer/drum teacher/historian/ethno-musicologist Steve Clover. The articles, in Dutch, were published in Slagwerkkrant, issues 48-52, 1992. Copies of these issue can be ordered at Keijser 18 Mediaproductions, P.O.
